An Ice Cream Sandwich Kind of Day

I'm having one of those days.  You probably know what kind of day I'm talking about.  It is one of those days where you have a lot of small things to do.  The tasks that need to be completed aren't necessarily bad things, but they aren't the most thrilling things either.  The tasks also don't seem that important when looked at individually, but ultimately they are vital in keeping the family and house running.  It is one of those days that even though the day is being filled with seemingly unimportant, yet vital things you still feel like you're teetering on being overwhelmed.  It is one of those days that you really just want to get out of the house, yet everything that sounds remotely enticing to do requires money that you don't want to spend.  Plus, if you leave, your laundry will be sitting in the dryer, get all wrinkled, and just post-pone the moment when you can say that the laundry is done.  It is one of those days when you use up precious Weight Watchers points so you can have an ice cream sandwich for a morning snack (because it will make you feel better, right?) kind of day.  It is one of those days you wish you had a category called "one of those days" on your budget so you could order out for dinner instead of trying to come up, yet again, with something to fix and eat for dinner. It is one of those days when you have a running dialogue going through your head about everything that isn't done, but should be, and you go through all the things you wish you could change about your schedule, self, and other people.  It is also one of those days where I have a constant commercial slogan running through my head.  Just do it, Katie.  Just do it.  Just get those blasted little things done.  Having clean clothes will make me smell better, changing the never-ending poopy diapers in a timely fashion will prevent diaper rash, keeping up on the dishes means dinner dishes will be more tolerable, and telling yourself these things will help you feel motivated and excited to get through the day.

It isn't a bad day.  It is just one of those days.
